Doerrenberg is an international producer and stockist of stainless steel products based in Engelskirchen-Ründeroth. The company was founded in 1860 and is characterized by a combination of traditional expertise and state-of-the-art innovation. In order to position itself more broadly and to offer customers a future-proof and target group-oriented digital platform, Doerrenberg commissioned diva-e, one of Germany's largest digital service providers, to develop a new e-commerce system that puts the customer at the center.
Doerrenberg needed a scalable and future-proof B2B e-commerce platform to drive forward the expansion of its digital business model and build on its international success in the stainless steel industry. A digital platform was to be developed in order to be able to act in a customer-specific manner in the diverse product environment around the topic of tool and special steels and thus retain customers in the long term. The joint project started with discovery workshops, the aim of which was to develop a rough concept for the company-specific use cases, including the implementation schedule. As is usual in agile projects, the results lead to a so-called “user story map”, which can be used to divide up the various project phases. Following the agile approach, the MVP (Minimum Viable Product) implementation was then launched.
In the complex B2B environment of steel products, diva-e developed an Adobe Commerce platform with individual solutions for product configurations and price structures. It was also connected to the company's internal ERP system in order to transfer information on products, prices and customers. The aim of the project was to be able to respond individually to a wide range of customer requirements while ensuring a high degree of transparency.
The successful collaboration ultimately led to the current go-live of the Doerrenberg webshop with a focus on precision flat steel products, which is available to customers 24/7 under the domain https://eportal.doerrenberg.de/. This lays the foundation for further expansion stages, as the existing system is to be developed into a fully comprehensive and internationally available customer platform in the future.
In future, customers will be able to view and manage their own data, such as certificates and commercial documents, among other things. Doerrenberg can also fully rely on diva-e in the implementation of further milestones. We look forward to continuing our successful cooperation!
