For MANN+HUMMEL, diva-e has taken on the design and implementation of various solutions in the area of digital transformation, in particular customer-oriented solutions and the optimization of the customer experience along all customer interactions. The aim is to provide a technical setup that enables the various business units to quickly bring new business cases to market and roll them out as part of the modern headless architecture.

The project includes various “streams” in which eCommerce solutions, online catalogs and websites are developed.

The aim of the joint project is to continuously optimize the existing headless architecture - based on Adobe Commerce and the Adobe Experience Manager - in order to improve the performance of platforms that have already been rolled out and to develop new solutions within the existing system.

First and foremost, current platforms should be stabilized and optimized so that they offer business stakeholders the necessary security to take the next big steps towards further development. This includes connections to other internal systems such as SAP and Salesforce as well as to third-party systems or marketplaces such as eBay.

In addition, composable commerce should create the basis for the rapid realization of new business cases and the migration of legacy systems to the new headless architecture.

Making systems future-proof & scalable

The establishment of diva-e as a service provider and partner began with a series of joint workshops. At the official kick-off at MANN+HUMMEL in Ludwigsburg, the foundation stone for the major joint project was finally laid in person.

The first task was to understand dependencies and gain a comprehensive picture of the complex infrastructure. Technical deep dives rounded off this first project phase. At the same time, diva-e set up several scrum teams consisting of Adobe Experience Manager and Adobe Commerce experts as well as other technical contacts and comprising over 30 people in total.

Process automation: Stabilizing systems and increasing efficiency

In the agile process, it was now necessary to record the wishes of all stakeholders in corresponding epics and user stories, prioritize them and integrate them into the overarching digital roadmap. The priority in the first sprints was to stabilize the systems with the aim of minimizing errors and increasing the efficiency of internal processes.

For example, the order export process to SAP was optimized and automated. Code and infrastructure audits formed the basis for optimizing caching, for example, in order to optimize the performance of the existing commerce solutions.

UX design: Optimized customer journey for B2B customers

The diva-e UX design team took care of the user-centric standardization of the digital presences of the respective MANN+HUMMEL brands. An address validation tool made the ordering process easier for B2B end customers by suggesting suitable addresses via Google API and automatically completing the necessary address fields. A redesign of the transactional emails under a new UX concept was implemented.

Technical basis: Implementation of new commerce solutions

At the same time, concepts for the realization of new commerce solutions for other business areas were developed and additional platforms implemented. In particular, the launch of the online store for OEMs marked a major milestone for the collaboration between MANN+HUMMEL and diva-e. OEMs in the Heavy Duty & Industry sector can now conveniently order filter systems for commercial vehicles online.

However, this was just the beginning: extensive further development of the existing stores and the conception of new, international store solutions are planned in the course of the project.

Successful migration: AEM as a cloud service

In another important milestone of the comprehensive digital transformation project, MANN+HUMMEL has migrated its Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) platform from the on-prem solution at Adobe Managed Services (AMS) to “AEM as a Cloud Service” (AEMaaCS). This migration, which involved transferring several terabytes of data to the cloud, was a key step in modernizing the IT infrastructure and optimizing customer interactions. diva-e supported MANN+HUMMEL by analyzing the existing systems, defining the scope of the migration and setting up the new cloud environments and Cloud Manager CI pipelines.

Agile collaboration: Working together to create a scalable and flexible platform

The migration was successfully and smoothly implemented by an agile, mixed team of AEM experts from diva-e and IT specialists from MANN+HUMMEL. This created a scalable and flexible digital platform that prepares MANN+HUMMEL perfectly for future requirements.

The project setup makes it possible to respond to different stakeholder requirements much more quickly and to exploit synergies at the same time. Thanks to a customizable and scalable architecture, MANN+HUMMEL is constantly setting standards in digital transformation with diva-e. Further exciting use cases will be implemented together as the project progresses in order to open up new markets and drive forward integration into the system landscape.

diva-e impressed us right from the initial discussions with its extensive experience in large-scale digital projects and the necessary technical expertise.
